Mischke was raised in a musical family, his father a New York jazz musician and his mother a graduate of Detroit’s Performing Arts School Cass Tech. He spent most of his childhood just blocks from Motown, in the Detroit family-owned record store and was exposed to a wide range of music from an early age. Mischke was first discovered by Rodney Jerkins. Originally, he was brought on strictly as a lyric/melody writer but his talent for vocal arrangements/production was soon utilized as well on numerous Darkchild recordings. Mischke’s vocal production and songwriting skills have been sought out by many of the industry’s top producers. So skilled in his field, Mischke was entrusted to craft background vocal arrangements on many of the unfinished works of Michael Jackson. His brilliance can be heard on the single “Hollywood Tonight” and “Best Of Joy” from the posthumous Michael Jackson CD “Michael”. Mischke has been honored with numerous Grammy Award nominations including “Best R&B Vocal Performance” and “Best R&B Song” for his vocal production and songwriting on El DeBarge’s “Second Chance”.
