Steve Post joins Edge Consultancy, LLC following 35 years of executive leadership experience in the credit union industry. With 25 years as President and CEO of Vermont State Employees Credit Union, Post orchestrated a period of rapid growth and dynamic evolution as the institution grew from $75M to $650M and increased membership from 17,000 to more than 55,000. His emphasis on strategic positioning, organizational development and excellent governance yielded a unique institution built on cooperative principles and dedicated to serving all Vermonters.
Early in his career and during the first stage of the technology revolution impacting the financial services industry, Post authored (and later co-authored) one of the first Asset Liability Management software programs for the credit union industry. CUPRO achieved widespread success in this evolving market eventually being chosen by over 800 credit unions. Post maintained a keen interest in technological innovation and making it function well in the organization. From core systems, payments, imaging and internet banking, Post tackled the challenge of turning technology into customer value. Also, ever mindful of the challenges of effective governance, Post emphasized strategy, risk assessment and risk management in the Board room to achieve long term success.
Post has a strong commitment to cooperatives and communities. He served several terms on the Board of the Association of Vermont Credit Unions and as Chair of its Government Relations Committee. He served on the Board of the Vermont School Board Insurance Trust and the Finance Committee of the Central Vermont Hospital. He has been a Trustee of the Vermont Foodbank and remains active as a member of its Finance Committee. He has chaired the Green Mountain United Way Campaign and was honored to receive the Governor Deane C. Davis Green Up Citizen of the Year Award in recognition of his long-time support of Green Up Vermont.
